Project #1 - "The H"
Time: 45 minutes
Material: 2” pipe; 4” x 4” x ¼” flat bar
Processes: GMAW, SMAW, Oxy-Acetylene cutting
Tools: Grinders, files, magnets, squares, tape measure
Goal: Build an “H” shape that stands on two pads and will hold water with out leaking.
Instructions:
Project #2 - "Making the Cut"
Material: 3/8” x 4” flat bar
Process: Oxy-fuel cutting
Tools: Files, grinders, magnets, soapstone and punch
Goal: Cut shapes and bevels in provided plate
Instructions:
1) Trace the two assigned shapes on the supplied material with soapstone and punch.
2) Cut the shapes using oxy-fuel cutting process
3) On one end of the flat bar cut a 30 degree bevel
Project #3 - "The Cube"
Material: Various flat bar, files, grinders, magnets
Process: GMAW or SMAW
Tools: Files, grinders, magnets
Goal: To weld pieces of flat bar together to build a perfect 4” x 4” x 4” cube.
Instruction:
1) From the metal bin pick the necessary material to build cube.
2) Weld the pieces together in the shape of a cube using the process of your choice. (Don’t forget some prep might be required)
3) Don’t forget the cube has to be square meaning that all the faces have to be of the same measurement.
Project #4 "The Rodeo Sculpture"
• Animals, people or objects that keep with the Rodeo theme
• Work can be done throughout the afternoon as extra time permits.
• From scrap material provided

- Cut holes in uprights
- Weld with specified welds according to drawing
- No grinding on finished welds

Process: Oxy-fuel cutting
